Equal Justice Initiative
EJI created The National Memorial for Peace and Justice, which opened to the public on April 26, 2018, the nation’s first memorial dedicated to the legacy of enslaved black people, people terrorized by lynching, African Americans humiliated by racial segregation and Jim Crow, and people of color burdened with contemporary presumptions of guilt and police violence.
The Bail Project
Our bail system is broken, and creates unequal justice for people solely based on wealth. The Bail Project™ National Revolving Bail Fund provides free bail assistance to low-income individuals who are legally presumed innocent, and whom a judge has deemed eligible for release before trial contingent on paying bail.
Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund, Inc.
The modern gay civil rights movement started because transgendered people of color fought back against police intimidation and harrassment. Lambda Legal is the oldest and largest national legal organization whose mission is to achieve full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and everyone living with HIV through impact litigation, education and public policy work.
Southern Poverty Law Center, Inc.
The SPLC has long fought for the issues that are now so present in the public consciousness. The SPLC is dedicated to fighting hate and bigotry and to seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of our society. Using litigation, education, and other forms of advocacy, the SPLC works toward the day when the ideals of equal justice and equal opportunity will be a reality.
Innocence Project Inc
With systemic racism and implicit bias in our criminal justice system, innocent people end up behind bars. The Innocence Project's mission is to free the staggering numbers of innocent people who remain incarcerated and to bring substantive reform to the system responsible for their unjust imprisonment.
