Transgender Awareness Week + MAL Fund

About

Every year between November 13th - 19th, the week before Transgender Day of Remembrance on November 20th, people and organizations around the world participate in Transgender Awareness Week to help increase visibility about the Trans experience, celebrate triumphs and address hardships members of the community face. Transgender Day of Remembrance is an annual observance that honors the memory of the Trans people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-Transgender violence. Devastatingly, 2021 marks the deadliest year recorded with at least 46 Transgender people killed in the US alone. This week and every week, we need to work together to advance advocacy against the prejudice, discrimination, and violence affecting the Trans community. This is also a time to celebrate Trans joy, resilience, and victories, to pause to honor the history of Trans activism and welcome informed allies. Please consider showing your solitary by supporting this campaign. All funds raised will go to the following three incredible organizations, who are making a difference in the everyday lives of Trans community members locally and across the United States through advocacy and empowerment. National Black Trans Advocacy Coalition

Established in 2011, The National Black Trans Advocacy Coalition is the only social justice organization led by black trans people to collectively address the inequities faced in the black transgender human experience.

Through our national advocacy center and affiliate state chapters we work daily, advocating to end poverty, discrimination in all forms and its human inequities faced in health, employment, housing and education that are rooted in systemic racism, to improve the lived experience of transgender people. Our work is based in peace building, community education, public policy initiatives, empowerment programs and direct services.

The National Black Trans Advocacy Coalition works with communities in the U.S. and across the globe to foster diversity, inclusion and equality for all people and is lead by the Black Transmen, Inc., Black Transwomen, Inc and Black Trans MX non profit organizations.
