Imagine if...

Access to education is increased for primary and secondary schooling, and vocational training is accessible to all.

Meet Sustainable Development Goal 4

Ensure inclusive, equitable, quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

Why this cause needs your support

Over the past several decades, much progress has been made with regard to universal access to education. Enrollment rates in developing nations skyrocketed while the number of children out of school dropped dramatically. Literacy rates are higher than ever, and more girls are in school compared to any other point in history.

girls in developing countries is not in school.

The goal of this fund is to ensure quality education for all.

To accomplish this goal, this Fund is supporting the following strategies

Access

Early childhood development and education services should be accessible to everyone, regardless of status or wealth. This should also apply to quality technical, vocational, and tertiary learning, including university. Access to all levels of education and vocational training for the least protected, including persons with disabilities, indigenous peoples, and children in vulnerable situations, will contribute to minimizing any gender disparities. Structurally, safe buildings and upgraded education facilities will help promote availability of inclusive and effective learning environments for all.

Supporting some of the best organizations

The Citizens Foundation, USA supports the building of civil society in Pakistan by providing quality education to underprivileged children, promoting gender equality and advocating reform of public education.

The unique Harlem Children’s Zone has transformed what it means for children to grow up in a high-poverty community. HCZ’s unprecedented success is a result of a seamless pipeline of programs that optimize the development of children at each level, from birth through college. In our 97-block Children’s Zone we strengthen the families around the children and have created a culture of success, where college-going is the norm. We serve 12,500 children and 12,500 adults among our 30+ programs, all guided by a commitment to continuous improvement and driven by data. We run two K-12 charter schools, early childhood programs, afterschool programs, social-work offices, community-building efforts and a college support program. We have graduated more than 700 students from college since 2011.

Room to Read seeks to transform the lives of millions of children in low-income communities by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education. Working in collaboration with local communities, partner organizations and governments, we develop literacy skills and a habit of reading among primary school children, and support girls to complete secondary school with the relevant life skills to succeed in school and beyond.
