Hurricane Maria was the strongest hurricane to make landfall in Puerto Rico since 1928. As of October 8, the hurricane has caused at least 81 deaths: 36 in Puerto Rico, 30 in Dominica, 5 in the Dominican Republic, 4 in the contiguous United States, 3 in Haiti, 2 in Guadeloupe, and 1 in the United States Virgin Islands. Puerto Rico has suffered catastrophic damage, including destruction of its previously damaged electrical grid. On October 6, a little more than two weeks after the hurricane, 89% still had no power in Puerto Rico, 44% had no water service, and 58% had no cell service.

This Fund is comprised of pre-vetted nonprofits providing disaster response in the region. Through a single donation to the Fund, you can support multiple organizations' initiatives to provide short-term and long-term response and recovery. We have initially selected organizations that are on the ground assisting with immediate relief needs, including rescue efforts and medical assistance. The entire country is in mourning after the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history took at least 59 lives and injured more than 500 people at a music festival in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 1, 2017. The Wadsworth Drug-Free Community Coalition exists to prevent, educate and support youth, adults and families on substance/drug abuse by providing resources and raising awareness in our community.

Rising Above the Storms (RAS) launched a Learning Center in Rwanda in January 2017, which is an after school program to support street children. We currently have over 50 children and the number is growing. Over 200 children and their families have been impacted by our services. In addition to school materials, uniforms, & tuition fees (in Rwandan public schools), children receive therapy sessions, and much-needed basic food supplies when they visit our Center. We have also added a computer lab where our kids can learn computers and IT related skills. They also participate in soccer programs where our team has competed on a national level for the youth division. We also added vocational training options for children who are interested and have the aptitude for certain trades available in Rwanda. In 2021, our very first high school graduate received a full scholarship to college where he's wrapping up his first year. Your generosity helps us as we continue to grow and expand our programs to low income families through scholarships for high performing students. Our first cohort of 30 students to various k-12 schools in Rwanda started in September 2022.

Veterans are champions of Aim Higher...even after our service ends, a lot of Veterans still aim to serve. These nonprofits aim to help Veterans that may need help with transition, allows them to tell their story, and exhibits some real #wenoti and gives back to the community. Thank you so much for your support!

Our aim is to provide roofing materials to around 50 households, out of the current 2,500 vulnerable households remaining, following the devastation that Hurricane Maria left in late Sept 2017. One roof costs $1,000 as indicated by the Dominica Red Cross General Manager. In addition to this fundraising effort, in May 2018, we are planning to send our own Shelter Team from VMware to go on site to assist some of these households in actual repairs/replacement of damaged roofs.
